Lockheed Martin has opened a 6.5K-square-foot center designed to house at least 5K personnel and equipped with platforms meant to aid innovation efforts.
The center is located at Lockheed’s Missiles and Fire Control facility in Orlando and has five laboratories that seek to address business challenges with technology., the company said Tuesday.
The Application Research Experimentation & Simulation lab offers research teams an environment to demonstrate computing applications.
The 24-hour Genesis Lab features augmented and virtual reality tools, small robotics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, computing systems and 3D printers, while the Iris Lab employs an indoor test bay for training, experimentation and research on robotics.
The Engineering Visualization Environment Lab utilizes animators trained to depict complex ideas in visual renderings.
Lockheed is scheduled to open the Polaris Lab in early 2019 to support fire-control technology development programs and the company noted it will put sensor, optics and laser testing tools there.
