A new partnership with Aireon will allow Italian aerospace company Leonardo to integrate space-based automatic dependent broadcast data into an air traffic management automation system.
Integration of this Aireon-provided data into Leonardo’s LeadInSky ATM automation system would help air navigation service providers manage airspace and flight routes through the use of a global, real-time dataset, Aireon said Monday.
LeadInSky features multi-level redundancies and disaster-recovery functions designed to increase the safety and security of air traffic management.
Cyriel Kronenburg, vice president of aviation services at Aireon, said the partnership is intended to support the company’s future ANSP customers.
Aireon expects its service to come online by the end of 2018.
