General Atomics’ aeronautical systems business has received a $15.8M firm-fixed-price contract to deliver components for long-range unmanned aircraft systems to the U.S. Army.
The Defense Department said Thursday that the company will provide initial spares and ground support equipment specifically designed for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle.
The General Atomics Gray Eagle UAS is based on the Predator unmanned aircraft and can carry multiple payloads such as electro-optical/infrared systems with laser designation technology, synthetic aperture radars, communications relay platforms and Hellfire missiles for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition missions as well as attack operations.
The Army Contracting Command obligated the full amount from the Army’s fiscal 2016 aircraft procurement funds at the time of award.
Work will take place in Poway, Calif. through Feb. 28, 2020.
