Fluor JV Helps Build N.Y. Bridge Replacement Over Hudson River - top government contractors - best government contracting event

A Fluor-led consortium has completed the final segment of a 3.1-mile bridge construction project to connect New York’s Rockland and Westchester counties over the Hudson River.

The company said Friday the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge features a new traffic monitoring system, two emergency shoulders and space for a bus-dedicated lane, in addition to the four general purpose lanes.

Tappan Zee Constructors — which designed and built the bridge — is composed of Fluor, American Bridge Company, Granite Construction Northeast and Taylor Bros.

The industry team is working to complete the new structure’s shared-use path for pedestrians and bicycle riders.

Fluor leads a team consisting of American Bridge Company, Granite Construction Northeast and Taylor Bros. on an effort to develop a 3.1-mile, cable-stayed bridge as replacement to the previous Tappan Zee.

The structure replaced the Governor Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge and was named after Mario M. Cuomo, who served as New York’s governor in the 1980s.
