Esri to Cosponsor Navy's Data Application Development Competition - top government contractors - best government contracting eventEsri will cosponsor an upcoming U.S. Navy event that would gather developers to boost the service branch’s digital capacities for protection of sea, air, space and subsurface domains.

The Naval Sea Systems Command will host the HACKtheMACHINE event from Sept. 21 to 23 in Seattle, Wash., the company said Wednesday.

Attending developers would receive access to Esri’s application program interfaces and software development kits that provide location data and spatial analytics functions.

These tools would help the developers make applications that address maritime security needs.

“HACKtheMACHINE is looking to reach out to a new generation and engage them in meaningful conversations about maritime security,” said Zac Staples, CEO at Fathom5, which is the event’s organizer.

Esri will participate in two of the event’s three tracks.

First, Esri will support the Data Science & the Seven Seas track that aims to generate algorithms that help the Navy prevent collisions between manned and unmanned vessels.

Second, the firm will provide tools for the Hack for the Oceans track that would task teams to demonstrate first responder applications in an environment simulating Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.

Winning participants will be granted sponsored prizes such as an annual developer subscription for use of the ArcGIS platform.

Booz Allen Hamilton has partnered with Fathom5 to manage the event.
