Dewberry to Help Analyze Data for Houston's Storm Recovery Mission - top government contractors - best government contracting eventData science company Civis Analytics has selected Dewberry to provide consulting services for a data collection and analysis project that will support storm recovery efforts in Houston.

The team will work to aggregate and visualize Hurricane Harvey damage estimates and flood hazard information using the Houston Estimation and Analysis of Loss platform designed to aid government officials in disaster mitigation and rebuilding missions, Dewberry said Friday.

The web-based system will consist of information, data models, analytics and tools in a cloud environment that can be accessed by nonprofit organizations and authorized city staff.

HEAL will offer a wide range of data such as debris removal pickup locations, community fields, federal assistance services and non-traditional sources that include social media posts.

As part of the project, Dewberry intends to help recreate Houston’s environment after the hurricane using meteorological data processing, 2D flood risk modeling and damage assessment methods.

Hurricane Harvey brought 51 inches of water in Houston and surrounding areas during a five-day rainfall in August of last year.
