Dell EMC and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are helping the U.S. Air Force‘s Space and Missile Systems Center develop information technology infrastructure platforms built on supply chain risk management.
The two firms will provide the center with SCRM systems that employ commercial, government and open source technologies, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said Monday.
The center would then access and study these systems under cooperative research and development agreements, which also authorizes the two companies as data center hardware providers.
USAF SMC intends to use these SCRM platforms to develop IT systems in three different areas of initiative.
First, the Enterprise Ground Services initiative seeks to install a common ground system that would connect military satellites.
Second, the Enterprise Battle Management Command and Control System initiative calls for hardware, common data standards, applications and infrastructure that allow for command and control from multiple, different locations.
Lastly, the Enterprise System Engineering initiative sets standards, procedures and requirements for activities concerning multiple SMC platforms.
