Booz Allen Hamilton has launched a technology platform designed to help organizations manage the security of mobile devices and address workplace mobility challenges.
District Defend works to adjust the security settings of a mobile device to the physical location’s security requirements, the company said Thursday.
The platform leverages radio frequency identification technology to automatically enforce security protocols even when the devices are powered on or off as well as restrict access to sensitive data when the device leaves a secure environment.
“Mobility traditionally comes at a cost for government users, restricting productivity and collaboration in favor of stricter security,†said Dee Dee Helfenstein, a senior vice president and head of solutions business at Booz Allen.
Helfenstein noted that District Defend aims to help government agencies oversee data across multiple locations, mitigate human error-linked security breaches and facilitate secure communication.
“District Defend, currently on the Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1 device, will eventually be available on the full range of our mobile computers,†said Steve Harris, general manager and vice president of Dell EMC’s federal business.
“The pairing represents an ideal marriage of hardware, firmware, operating system and applications to create a tightly secured system,†Harris added.
