The U.S. Army’s Armament Research Development and Engineering Center is seeking a prototype for an unmanned system that can perform logistical tasks in support of forces on land.
ARDEC will issue a request for prototype proposal to develop and demonstrate an Autonomous Unmanned Logistics System supported by the Ground Vehicle Systems “other transaction” agreement, according to a notice posted Wednesday on FedBizOpps.
The ULS-A must be able to transmit relevant data such as mission progress, location, total task time and health information in addition to carrying supplies and flying autonomously to a location designated by a common digital handheld device.
The platform must also handle autonomous take-off and landing as well as obstacle collision avoidance operations in GPS-denied environments and areas near smoke, signal, beacon or waypoint.
ARDEC aims to deploy government-owned autonomy and mission systems software onto multiple prototypes to ensure that the platforms can be integrated with various systems.
