The U.S. Army has awarded AM General a $51.3M contract to refurbish High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles.
The company said Wednesday it will disassemble, inspect and modify Humvees at the Red River Army Depot in Texas to address the service branch’s recapitalization requirements.
AM General will equip selected vehicles with an anti-lock braking system, an electronic stability control technology, a powertrain cooling system, maneuverability-focused geometry and other systems.
The manufacturer will mate the recapitalized vehicle bodies to a production rolling chassis at the Mishawaka Manufacturing Campus in Indiana.
