The State Department has launched a market research effort to identify potential sources of tools that could help DOS monitor sociopolitical events in real-time or “as near to real-time as possible.”
A notice posted Friday on FedBizOpps says the department looks to increase its ability to discover, track and analyze global events, crises, threats and foreign policy developments as soon as information becomes available via online platforms such as social networks.
DOS also seeks to maximize its exposure to public sentiment on relevant data, relationship network of credible online content publishers and access to multiple information dissemination channels, according to the notice.
The department noted it wants to reduce the time its personnel spend on identifying, summarizing and disseminating targeted news items to a designated internal audience.
Interested parties can submit input through Aug. 31.
