Several federal agencies and state and local governments in the U.S. have started adopting a data analytics platform from SAS to comply with an information technology modernization mandate.
The Cary, N.C.-based firm said Tuesday the U.S. Postal Services and a government statistical agency have recently leveraged SAS Viya under the Modernizing Government Technology Act, which President Trump signed in 2017.
Previously, SAS deployed the artificial intelligence-powered analytics system to Wake County, N.C., to help analyze changing market trends in properties in real time.
In 2016, Wake County saw a surge in property values when its population increased from 300,000 in 1980 to over one million.
SAS designed the SAS Viya model to help Wake County officials analyze several factors of properties before calculating sale prices, as well as predict accurate property market values until 2020.
The system includes features from SAS Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning product, which employs a visual interface to boost end-to-end data mining and machine learning capabilities.
Marcus Kinrade, revenue director for the Wake County government, said the system helped determine if certain neighborhoods needed to be more thoroughly assessed regarding divergence and modifications.
