Raytheon BBN to Develop AI Neural Network Under DARPA Program - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Defense Advanced Research Project Agency has selected Raytheon‘s BBN Technologies to develop an artificial intelligence technology that would offer AI-generated explanations.

Raytheon BBN aims to build the Explainable Question Answering System through DARPA’s Explainable Artificial Intelligence program, the company said Tuesday.

The program aims to help people manage and trust AI applications through a set of machine learning techniques.

EQUAS will feature a graphical user interface designed to examine the system’s recommendations and explanations as to why the resulting answer was chosen instead of other options.

“Our goal is to give the user enough information about how the machine’s answer was derived and show that the system considered relevant information so users feel comfortable acting on the system’s recommendation,” said Bill Ferguson, lead scientist and principal investigator for EQUAS at Raytheon BBN.
