Joseph Schmitz, former inspector general of the Defense Department and current chief legal officer of Pacem Solutions International, has been named chairman of the Falls Church, Va.-based firm’s advisory board.
He joined Pacem in May and brings public and private sector experience to his new position, the company said Thursday.
Schmitz served as foreign policy and national security adviser to President Trump from March to November 2016 and as DoD IGÂ from 2002 to 2005.
The 27-year U.S. Navy veteran held several leadership roles in the Naval Reserve Intelligence Command and his industry career has included time at Squire Patton Boggs, Prince Group and Freeh International Group.
He authored the book, titled “The Inspector General Handbook: Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Other Constitutional ‘Enemies, Foreign and Domestic.”
