Lockheed Martin has received a $47 million contract modification to procure upgrade kits and associated spares for the U.S. Navy’s submarine electronic warfare support system.
The Defense Department said Thursday the company’s rotary and mission systems business will also assemble, integrate and test and deliver the AN/BLQ-10 modernization kits by December 2020.
The system is designed to locate and identify radar and communications signals at periscope depth to help submarine crews issue threat warnings and conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in support of support fleet or battlegroup objectives.
Ninety-eight percent of work will occur in Syracuse, N.Y., and the rest will take place in Manassas, Va. and Moorestown, N.J.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $41.7 million at the time of award from the Navy’s fiscal 2018 shipbuilding and conversion along with “other” procurement funds.
