James Clarke, director of quantum hardware at Intel Labs, has said the company is commending U.S. lawmakers’ bipartisan push to advance quantum computing research and development efforts.
He wrote in a blog post published Thursday the proposed National Quantum Initiative Act seeks to encourage collaboration among government, academic and private entities to address computing challenges through methods that are beyond what conventional computers can do.
Clarke added the bill would allocate R&D funds, establish international standards and spur interagency planning, as well as address fundamental needs in the innovation, public-private partnership and workforce areas.
“Intel applauds the bipartisan efforts of Congress and will continue to partner with the research community worldwide to advance our collective understanding of quantum information sciences and help deliver this exciting, future era of computing,” he noted.
