A new group of elections systems providers and an information technology-centric cybersecurity data sharing organization have agreed to partner to safeguard voting platforms from possible election interference, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
The Elections Industry Special Industry Group will provide election technology firms access to the IT Information Sharing and Analysis Center’s data sharing infrastructure as well as cyber threat indicators from IT-ISAC members, international partners and the Department of Homeland Security.
“Many of us are seeing the increased awareness of manipulation of our (elections) infrastructure,†said Peder Jungck, IT-ISAC president and vice president and general manager of intelligence solutions at BAE Systems.
“The reason all these companies come together is to have the strength in numbers,†Jungck added.
IT-ISAC will house the industry group that will include vendors that provide voter registration, election management, electronic pollbook and voting tabulation systems.
IT-ISAC is a nonprofit organization that provides information sharing support to firms such as BAE, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Intel.
