Cubic has received a potential $27M task order from Canada’s government to develop and incorporate an urban operations training system into the Canadian Weapon Effects Simulation platform.
The company said Monday it will deliver the technology to the Gagetown Canadian Forces Base and a maneuver training center at CFB Wainwright.
Dave Buss, president of Cubic’s global defense segment, said company-built platforms work to help prepare warfighters to carry out operations within an urban environment.
UOTS is designed to monitor actions and events, manage training devices and process training exercise data.
System features will include an ultra-wideband tracking system, a shoot-through-wall technology and special effects generators that can produce simulated smoke, smell, aroma, light, sound, grenades and improvised explosive devices.
Cubic intends for the technology to also help exercise control staff analyze exercise results against objective a set of battle task standards.
The company noted it expects full acceptance of the system at CFB Gagetown in October of next year and at the Wainwright facility by September 2020.
