The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded a $4.4 million contract to BAE Systems to design and develop an integrated system that would help military users secure communications during tactical operations.
BAE’s information and electronic systems integration business will perform work under DARPA’s Protected Forward Communications program, according to a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday.
The company will work to build a system for small tactical units to prevent exploitation and denial of local, airborne and reachback communications, as well as persist in electronic warfare missions.
The PFC program also seeks to reduce system integration risk through a structured system engineering method.
