Mike Leff, vice president for global defense at AT&T’s public sector business, has cited how commercial networks could help the Defense Department meet its readiness and mobility requirements, C4ISRNET reported Friday.
“DoD needs the flexibility to move and maneuver quickly … To do that you have to have a network that adapts rapidly to the actual threat environment,†Leff said.
“Simply put, commercial networks are intrinsically faster and more resilient, and have much greater reach and capability.”
Leff also mentioned the potential benefit of leveraging industry’s investment in network infrastructure modernization to DoD.
“If you can take advantage of commercial investment, you have a global services backbone that provides a network-on-demand capability, a more intelligent network with bandwidth that could be sized dynamically up and down,†he said.
