Army Sources for Next-Generation Transponder Technology - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Army is sourcing for information on next-generation transponder technology to provide worldwide cellular- and satellite-based coverage in support of the Defense Department‘s asset tracking operations.

The service branch intends to use the transponders to perform logistics activities and generate asset in-transit visibility, the Army said Thursday in a FedBizOpps notice.

The Army plans to purchase cellular transponders, satellite transponders and hybrid transponders – all battery-operated – under a possible indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.

The service branch may also require the contractor to deliver and install hardware, and provide training at government locations within and outside the continental U.S.

The government will use industry input as the basis to revise the scope of future requirements.

Responses to the sourcing are due August 30.
