A team from Riptide Software is set to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in the modernization of a simulator for support arms training.
The company said Thursday it will provide hardware and software update design, lifecycle sustainment and support services to the Program Manager for Training Systems for the Supporting Arms Virtual Trainer system.
Philip Loeffel, CEO of Riptide, said the contract allows access to new military areas and facilitates future business expansion.
Riptide’s selection as the prime contractor to design training hardware and software expands the company’s portfolio to the virtual simulation sector and will let the company help the Marines address requirements, said Barry Clinger, chief technology officer at Riptide.
Work will take place at the system’s test berth in Orlando, Fla.; Marine Corps Air Station Yuma; the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms; Marine Corps bases Kaneohe Hawaii and camps Lejeune and Pendleton and MCB Camp Hansen in Okinawa, Japan.
The SAVTÂ is meant to provide a mission-based and immersive training environment with standardized tactics, techniques and procedures for supporting arms and close air support operations such as artillery, mortar, tactical air and naval surface fire.
The training system supports the preparation of the Forward Observers, Forward Air Controllers and the USMC Joint Terminal Attack Controllers for joint expeditionary missions.
Riptide plans to recruit 10 to 15 military support consultants and engineers over the next three years and expects the project to commence within the month.
Assured Information Technology and Cole Engineering will support Riptide in the SAVT contract.
