A communications satellite that Maxar Technologies‘ SSL business produced for Telesat has started to conduct post-launch operations.
The Telstar 19 VANTAGE satellite deployed its solar arrays on time after launching aboard a SpaceX-built Falcon 9 rocket at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida early Sunday morning, Maxar said Tuesday.
On early Tuesday, the satellite fired its main thruster in order to move toward its final geostationary orbit.
Telstar 19 is equipped with multiple payloads built to facilitate broadband connectivity for customers across North and South America as well as provide service throughout Northern Canada, South America, the Caribbean and the North Atlantic upon reaching 63 degrees west longitude orbital slot.
SSL manufactured the satellite using high-technology production methods such as three-dimensional printing.
