Reports: Lockheed, IBM Among Firms to Join Proposed Workforce Advisory Board - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRepresentatives from companies such as Lockheed Martin, IBM, General Motors, FedEx and Home Depot will join an advisory board for a new council that will help the administration address possible job displacement concerns as a result of automation, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

A source said Labor Secretary Alex Acosta and first daughter Ivanka Trump will lead the council and that Apple and Blackrock had expressed plans to join the board.

The Washington Examiner reported that President Trump is scheduled to sign today an executive order to authorize the creation of the new board and council that will work to increase employees’ access to vocational training and job opportunities.

Ivanka, a White House adviser, told reporters Wednesday the president will ask the new council to come up with a national workforce strategy and urge industry leaders to “sign a pledge to do their part to invest in our current and future workforce.”
