Raytheon’s BBN Technologies subsidiary will lead a team that secured a $14.5 million contract from the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity to develop a technology platform for geopolitical event forecasting.
The consortium aims to create an automated system to help forecasters predict societal events such as conflicts, disease outbreaks and elections as part of IARPA’s Hybrid Forecasting Competition that kicked off last year, Raytheon said Monday.
BBN Technologies’ team members are Lumenogic, Ipsos Public Affairs, Systems and Technology Research, Wright State Research Institute, the American Center for Democracy and Tufts University.
The Raytheon subsidiary designed a prediction platform that will employ hybrid human forecasts and tools for sharing machine reasoning and results in addition to automated features such as intelligent search and alerts on information changes.
