A Northrop Grumman repair station in Rolling Meadows, Ill., has received the Federal Aviation Administration‘s Aviation Maintenance Technician Diamond Award of Excellence in recognition of the company’s maintenance training and safety operations at the station.
In addition to the Diamond Award, individual AMT awards were also given to 36 employees at the FAA-certified repair station, Northrop said Thursday.
“Our customers rely on our infrared countermeasure systems to provide protection against IR threats, so the commitment our employees make to training and education is vital to keeping those systems ready for any mission,†said Bob Gough, vice president of programs for land and avionics C4ISR at Northrop’s mission systems division.
The Diamond Award recognizes aviation maintenance facilities employing professionals who have completed training courses that comply with industry standards.
The Rolling Meadows Repair Station was opened in 2009 and has overseen the installation of the company’s IRCM systems on over 1,400 aircraft of more than 85 different types.
This is the eighth time that Northrop’s repair station received recognition under the FAA’s AMT program.
