Northrop Grumman has developed avionics software for a modernized version of the U.S. Army‘s Black Hawk helicopter platform that will undergo limited user test.
The company said Thursday it collaborates with the Army Prototype Integration Facility and Redstone Defense Systems to upgrade the service branch’s fleet of UH-60L helicopters through cockpit improvements as part of a contract awarded in 2014.
Redstone serves as the prime contractor on the aircraft modernization project.
Northrop is contracted to provide the Integrated Avionics Suite for the UH-60V variant and has installed a digital cockpit modem build required for the helicopter LUT.
The test aims to determine the UH-60V system’s operational readiness and compatibility with the UH-60M Pilot-Vehicle Interface.
