The Department of Homeland Security has announced the availability of a technology platform Lookout developed to help secure mobile devices against phishing attacks.
DHS said Thursday it partly funded the development of Lookout’s Mobile Endpoint Security system, designed to help users block attempts to deliver malware or steal credentials in virtual messages and applications.
Vincent Sritapan, program manager for mobile security research and development at S&T, said that having modernized mobile threat defenses can safeguard sensitive data on mobile devices and enterprise networks.
“[The modified system] will increase the security of the federal government’s mobile systems for mission-critical activities,†he added.
Lookout aims to update the Mobile Endpoint Security platform with new features meant to identify malicious and third-party apps, detect side-loaded apps and leverage a mobile vulnerability management system.
The platform is now available for use in iOS and Android devices.
