The Naval Medical Logistics Command has awarded Leidos a five-year, $28 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide biomedical research and development support to the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory.
Leidos said Monday that it will conduct research studies and analyses, develop guidelines, and support new initiatives focused on addressing the undersea environment’s impact on humans.
Research work under the follow-on contract will revolve around human factors such as submariner mental and physical wellness, shipboard and diving force health protection, and undersea warfighter health and performance.
Jon Scholl, president of the Leidos Health Group, said the company aims to identify potential health threats, assist NMLC in decision-making and optimize safety in challenging operational environments.
NSMRL is located in Groton, Conn. and facilitates human-centric research as part of a larger effort to improve the efficiency of undersea defense.
