Caddell Construction has started to build a facility for the Energy Department‘s National Nuclear Security Administration in Albuquerque, N.M., through a potential $140 million contract from the Army Corps of Engineers.
NNSA said Monday it broke ground on the agency’s Albuquerque Complex Project that will consolidate 25 buildings into a three-story, 333,000-square-foot facility.
The facility is being built within Kirtland Air Force Base to accommodate up to 1,200 federal and contractor employees.
The contract has an initial value of $127 million and covers the construction of building offices, data centers, secure areas, a fitness facility and vault-type spaces and rooms, Caddell said April 26.
NNSA intends for its new facility to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Standard.
