Leanne Caret, CEO of Boeing’s defense, space and security business, has said the company would be “honored and thrilled†if given the opportunity to take part in the U.K.’s new fighter jet program, Reuters reported Friday.
Caret, a two-time Wash100 recipient, told Reuters at the Farnborough Airshow that it is too early to issue conclusive statements, saying the U.K. government “is still going through own defense reviews and understanding where they’re going.â€
The report said the U.K. announced plans for a new fighter aircraft – Tempest – and tapped BAE Systems, MBDA, Leonardo and Rolls-Royce to work on the project that would rival the Franco-German fighter jet initiative led by Airbus and Dassault Aviation.
