Verizon Helps DoD Agency Implement Unified Comms Platform - top government contractors - best government contracting eventVerizon has led an effort to help a Defense Department agency migrate to a unified communications system that works to help users integrate voice, instant messaging, conferencing and video communications through a single platform.

The telecommunications firm collaborated with Ribbon Communications, Black Box and Visioneering to advance the DoD agency’s transition to the UC platform, Verizon said Wednesday.

Verizon and its partners used a Joint Interoperability Test Command-certified application server from Ribbon to deploy the UC platform designed to replace the agency’s core communications system and facilitate the continuous use of at least 60,000 endpoints.

“This significant transformation lets the user community operate using a communications system that addresses their IT needs now – and is scalable into the future,” said Sonya Cork, vice president of sales at Verizon Enterprise Solutions.

DoD implemented the UC integration effort as part of its Everything Over IP program.
