Griffon‘s Telephonics subsidiary has landed a $31.8 million contract to equip the U.S. Coast Guard’s maritime surveillance aircraft with a multimode radar technology.
USCG selected the APS-143C(V)3 radar to help HC-27J Spartan operators search, detect and track targets, Telephonics said Thursday.
The system features inverse synthetic aperture radar, weather avoidance, synthetic aperture radar and search-and-rescue transponder beacon modes.
APS-143C(V)3 is currently used on the service branch’s HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft and is designed to support reconnaissance, S&R, law enforcement and border security missions.
The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division awarded the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract after a competitive procurement process.
