A subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies has secured a potential $79.6 million task order from the U.S. Army to design and build targets for a missile defense system test and evaluation program.

Teledyne Brown Engineering will provide “Zombie” ballistic targets to the Army’s Tactical Range Air Defense Missile effort that could run through April 2025, the company said Monday.

Zombie missiles are based on components that are subject to demilitarization or have reached the end of the life cycle.

“Given current and emerging threats to global security, we are proud to provide these systems that will help support the defense of our nation and our allies,” said Jan Hess, president of Teledyne Brown Engineering.

The Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command issued the task order under the Design, Development, Demonstration and Integration Domain 1 contract.
