Sensofusion will begin its production on an enhanced ground-based mobile platform for countering autonomous aerial drones after testing its prototype for a year.
The New York-based firm said Wednesday the AIRFENCE system met IP67 ruggedization requirements during assessments for detection range and counterattack capabilities, which were conducted with the U.S. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory through the Defense Department’s Defense Innovation Unit Experimental.
Sensofusion further developed the AIRFENCE system to integrate radar and optics systems on board vehicles to enable uniform operations.
“Our work in the past year with the Marines enables us to meet production readiness with our flagship counter-UAS solutions, AIRFENCE, and are now prepping for production with the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security,†said Sensofusion Vice President Kaveh Mahdavi.
He added that Sensofusion is now prepared to accept large AIRFENCE orders from the DoD, DHS or any government organization.
The firm tested the counter-UAS platform at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Va., and Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona.
Sensofusion has also signed a one-year extension with the MCWL to develop and adopt new capabilities within signal intelligence.
