Raytheon and France-based military electronics maker Safran have partnered to develop sighting systems intended for combat vehicles.
Both companies signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate their electro-optical and inertial measurement unit technologies to produce a forward-looking infrared sighting device, Raytheon said Wednesday.
Kim Ernzen, vice president of Raytheon’s land warfare systems business, the integrated technology will work to help U.S. and allied warfighters see and shoot first on the battlefield.
The system will be designed to stabilize line of sight across long- and mid-wave frequency bands.
Raytheon noted the partnership seeks to install FLIR B-Kits with Safran’s vision sights technology on armored vehicle offerings for U.S. and French government clients.
