Sagetech has been chosen to provide a transponder system for integration into a PAE ISR-made unmanned aerial system.
The PAE–American Operations Corp.–Battlespace Flight Services joint venture will equip the Resolute Eagle UAS platform with MX transponders, Sagetech said Tuesday.
Jake Jacobs, chief technology officer at PAE ISR, said the transponder will work to increase Resolute Eagle’s aircraft detection and avoidance capacity.
Jacobs added the additional feature can help the group 3 tactical UAS comply with the Federal Aviation Administration‘s automated dependent surveillance-broadcast equipment mandate.
Sagetech aims to obtain Technical Standard Orders certification from the FAA for the military and civil variants of the company’s MX transponder line.
MX12A is designed to support military modes such as encrypted Mode 5 and the MXS is built to support Modes A, C and S for civilian use.
Resolute Eagle features a vertical takeoff and landing system and works to facilitate beyond visual line-of-sight operations.
