Mark Testoni, president and CEO of SAP National Security Services, said in an interview on “Bloomberg Technology” show that aired Saturday the company has worked with Amazon Web Services in efforts to deploy cloud computing platforms to the government sector.
Both companies recently announced a partnership to integrate AWS GovCloud (US) into SAP NS2’s Secure HANA Cloud offering designed to help customer agencies comply with security requirements.
AWS plans to bid for the Defense Department‘s Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud acquisition program and Testoni told Bloomberg TV anchor Emily Chang that he believes the contract will only represent a small portion of the resulting infrastructure.
Testoni, a 2018 Wash100 recipient, added he predicts the project will help drive standards for integration and interoperability as well as encourage innovation and competition across multiple providers.
“What the cloud does bring is a set of standard capabilities around security and the ability to rapidly upgrade patches and new protecting capabilities that are much harder to do in distributed environments.”
