Raytheon expects to increase the number of international customers for the Patriot missile defense platform after the Trump administration introduced policies to help domestic manufacturers sell weapon systems to U.S. allies, Bloomberg reported Friday.
John Harris, CEO of Raytheon’s international business, told the publication in an interview that Poland’s signing of a $4.75 billion contract to buy the system occurred as the company aims to grow global Patriot sales.
Deliveries of rockets and communications equipment are scheduled to commence in 2022 under the deal signed between the Polish and U.S. governments in March.
Harris noted in the interview with Bloomberg that international business accounted for 32 percent of Raytheon’s 2017 sales, with majority of that came from the Asia-Pacific.
He added the defense contractor also works to expand the capacity of its missile technology.
