Inmarsat and the space agency of Greece will collaborate for the research and development of technologies and to share information.
The satellite company said Wednesday that it entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Hellenic Space Agency (HSA) that was signed at the Posidonia 2018 international shipping event in Athens.
Ronald Spithout, president of Inmarsat’s maritime business, said the partnership will produce projects that will be designed to support the industry. “This agreement underlines an already, strong and collaborative partnership between Inmarsat and the Hellenic Space Agency.”
Christodoulos Protopapas, HSA chairman, said the memorandum will facilitate cooperation for satellite technology initiatives.
The memorandum covers technologies for space and ground segments and future maritime software, satellites for the internet of things, expansion of space policies, data exchange and possible secondments.
