The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will conduct a Proposers Day on July 17 in Arlington, Va., to solicit vendors for the development of insect-scale robotic platforms.
Registration for the Short-Range Independent Microrobotic Platforms Proposers Day will run through July 13, DARPA said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Friday.
The SHRIMP program will include three 12-month phases for actuator development; power storage and conversion; and platform manipulation, mobility and strength.
These phases will involve demonstrations intended to produce tether-less micro- or milirobots for Defense Department operations such as equipment maintenance, infrastructure inspection, disaster relief and search and rescue.
The SHRIMP Proposers Day will allow academic, industry and government organizations to exchange ideas and form teaming arrangements.
DARPA aims to issue the SHRIMP BAA before the Proposers Day.
