BAE Systems has announced it will feature a new situational awareness system in the latest iteration of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle.
The iFighting system is designed to augment a vehicle’s decision-making capacities via data harnessing, and will be installed in the CV90 MkIV vehicle that the Czech Republic will employ for infantry, the company said Monday.
Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems’ Hagglunds business, said the iFighting’s development seeks to provide situational awareness without adding more displays and panels that may cause distraction among crewmen.
The CV90 MkIV additionally makes use of an electronic architecture built to manage large capacities of stream data and operate with NATO’s Generic Vehicle Architecture.
This addition supports potential implementation of autonomous crew support, machine learning and augmented reality technologies to the vehicle.
The company is collaborating with multiple Czech-based firms to offer the MkIV to the country’s army.
