Amazon Web Services has reported that a cloud-based online platform works to help government agencies access geospatial data, services and applications.
DOI launched the GeoPlatform site in 2015 for agencies to use, analyze and exchange geospatial information, according to an AWS blog post published Thursday.
The department works with Zivaro, formerly known as Global Technology Resources Inc., to manage the web-based platform.
Some agencies have used GeoPlatform to build a map with data sources in efforts to obtain a complete picture of geographical locations, AWS noted.
The cloud company added services available through the platform are certified by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program and the system’s hosting environment operates under a five-year moderate authority to operate certification.
