AT&T and the U.S. Air Force Academy have signed a five-year agreement to help the service advance the use of technology by sharing industry best practices and knowledge about internet of things, cybersecurity and other innovations to the academy faculty.
The company said Thursday it will conduct demonstrations for academy cadets and share knowledge about software-defined networking, Smart Base and 5G technologies under the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement.
“Our work with the U.S. Air Force Academy will be much like an action-oriented academic ‘think tank,’†said Rocky Thurston, client executive vice president for AT&T’s public sector business.
Thurston added the company will help the service identify technology requirements and keep up with industry innovation.
Lt. Col. Michael Chiaramonte, director of the academy’s Air Force CyberWorx, said the academy will leverage AT&T’s resources to achieve its research and academic goals and help the service build up its mission capabilities.
