Advanced Space to Help NASA Develop Navigation Tech for Moon Exploration - top government contractors - best government contracting event

NASA has awarded Advanced Space a two-year contract to further develop a peer-to-peer lunar navigation system for potential government and commercial use.

The company said Thursday work under the contract will build on a phase 1 six-month project and cover technical development of software and supporting systems.

“As we increase the number of vehicles in space and missions to the Moon, we must equally advance the technology used to figure out where they are and where they are going,” said Advanced Space CEO Bradley Cheetham.

He added the company aims to help simplify the process for planning and operation of space missions.

Advanced Space seeks to meet with potential users of the lunar navigation technology in the public and private sectors as part of efforts to reach program milestones.

The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade also awarded the company a $250,000 Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant in May to support a similar project in the state.
