Raytheon Chairman and CEO Thomas Kennedy has said he believes maintaining data integrity should be part of an organization’s strategy to secure information technology assets from cyber threats.
He wrote in an article published Tuesday on LinkedIn that data integrity protections can help companies defend against insider threats and comply with financial reporting standards under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Kennedy, a 2018 Wash100 recipient, urged corporate leaders to work with chief information security officers and IT and operations teams in efforts to assess potential cybersecurity risks within their organizations.
“That assessment will form a gap analysis that identifies where the organization is currently positioned versus where it needs to be.”
Companies should also develop cyber intrusion response plans and update strategies against evolving threats, according to Kennedy.
“Bottom line: it’s not if your organization will experience a breach, it’s when.”
