Lockheed Martin to Continue Production of U.S. Navy Laser-Guided Training Rounds - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin was awarded a $23.1 million contract from the U.S. Navy for follow-on production of laser-guided training rounds.

The company said Tuesday the award exercises the first option of its 2017 contract to provide Enhanced Laser Guided Training Rounds for the service branch’s Paveway II weapons exercises.

The new award extends work for the initial contract through the latter part of 2020.

Lockheed’s ELGTR supports live-fire practice on laser-guided bombs in the configurations of GBU-10, 12 and 16.  The training rounds can be used with AV-8B, F-16, F/A-18 and a number of global aircraft models.

The company will further develop its rounds in aims to expand the system’s platform compatibility.

Lockheed also produces Paveway II Plus LGB kits and the Paragon munition for direct attack at the company’s 350,000-square foot, Archbald, Pa., facility.

The company has delivered over 100,000 regular and 7,000 dual-mode LGB kits to the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and 24 other countries.
