A business of Ensco will launch a product for rail safety meant to provide a forecast of track temperature to help in train operations.
Ensco Rail will introduce its Predictive Rail Temperature System at the Railway Systems Suppliers, Inc.‘s 58th Annual Communication and Signal Exhibition from May 21 to 24 in Omaha, Neb., Ensco said Wednesday.
The rail technology is designed to aid in the management of track buckling derailments through the facilitation of enhanced and targeted heat slow orders and inspections in place of blanket slow orders.
The system will use data from the National Weather Service and parameters such as solar angle and radiation intensity, sky temperature, wind speed and rail heat absorption and emission.
