Unisys has received a task order from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to build and operate systems designed to help CBP’s targeting and analysis systems program directorate assess risks associated with passengers and cargo that enter the country.

The company said Wednesday it will provide cloud, big data analytics and biometrics platforms to help CBP agents identify travelers and shipments that need to undergo additional inspection and those that can proceed to the “low touch” automated clearance process.

“Unisys is extremely pleased and proud to have the opportunity to continue our partnership with the TASPD organization and to help secure the nation’s supply chain and support CBP’s layered defense strategy for international cargo and passengers,” said Amy Rall, group vice president for homeland security and critical infrastructure at Unisys’ federal business, in the press release.

The time-and-materials task order has a base period of six months and 10 six-month option terms and was awarded through the General Services Administration‘s Alliant government-wide acquisition contract.

“We’re very excited to have won our recompete in a market where it’s very hard to so,” Rall told ExecutibeBiz. She said that since the systems constantly evolve and modernize, Unisys employs continuous innovation strategies. The planes are always in flight; the ports never go down.

“This win is right in our sweet spot of global board security programs that we offer,” Rall added. “We work very hard to retain CBP’s trust and a lot of that comes down to the fact that we put good code out on time using agile methodologies.”

Though Unisys could not mention specifics at this time, ExecutiveBiz was informed the award is in the multi-hundred millions.
