Federal agencies awarded approximately $1.25 billion in information technology products and services contracts in the last month of fiscal year 2017 through NASA’s Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement V contract vehicle, Bloomberg Government reported Thursday.
BGOV’s analysis shows that approximately one third of all contract obligations made through SEWP V in fiscal 2017 were awarded in September and that civilian agencies accounted for nearly two-thirds of SEWP spending in that period with $822 million in contract obligations.
Joanne Woytek, SEWP program manager, said agencies that use the contract vehicle tend to make large procurement deals toward the end of the fiscal year.
The report said the largest share of IT product procurement made via SEWP in fiscal 2017 occurred in May at nearly 70 percent.
BGOV noted that the proportion of IT services acquired through SEWP rose from 24 percent in fiscal 2013 to 39 percent in fiscal 2017.
Approximately 5,000 task orders worth $1.5 billion under the contract vehicle are set to expire before the end of fiscal 2018, according to the analysis.
The SEWP V vehicle is designed to help NASA and other federal agencies procure desktops, tablets, servers, peripherals, storage, network, security, cloud, telecommunications, audio visual and software products as well as system installation, training and maintenance services.
